Our Favorite Disney World Coasters

These Are the Rides That Make Us Scream, Laugh, and Ride Again!

Walt Disney World might be known for its storytelling and family fun, but don’t sleep on the thrills! From wild train rides through the Old West to intergalactic dance battles, Disney delivers coaster experiences that are equal parts excitement and magic.

Our family spans three generations, and while we don’t always agree on who gets front row, we do agree on these top five Disney roller coasters. Let’s countdown our most beloved, most re-ridden, and most screamed-on coasters!

#5 – Expedition Everest (Animal Kingdom)

The legend of the Yeti never gets old! Expedition Everest sends you racing forward… and backward… through the Himalayas with stunning views, dark tunnels, and one massive animatronic (if he’s working!). The queue is immersive, the thrills are legit, and that drop gets us every time.

#4 – Slinky Dog Dash (Hollywood Studios)

This one might be “family-friendly,” but don’t be fooled—Slinky Dog Dash is pure fun. Smooth turns, surprise hills, and that second launch make this Toy Story coaster a favorite for all ages in our family. Plus, it’s adorable. And the views of Galaxy’s Edge? Chef’s kiss.

#3 – Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom)

A classic coaster that’s still out-of-this-world. Space Mountain brings the thrills in near-total darkness with sharp turns and sudden drops. It may be a little bumpy, but that just adds to the old-school charm. We still hoot and holler every time we zoom through space!

#2 – Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom)

“It’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!” And we never skip it. From the queue to the trip through caverns to the sweeping turns and surprise dips, Big Thunder is that perfect mix of thrilling and scenic. Day or night, it’s a family tradition—and the best sunset ride in Magic Kingdom.

#1 – Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (EPCOT)

Our current champion! Guardians is a next-level coaster experience: smooth, fast, funny, and synchronized to awesome tunes. The rotating ride vehicles, backwards launch, and stunning visuals make this a must-do on every trip. And yes, we all have a favorite song (and argue about which one is best).
