Getting Around Walt Disney World
🚌 Your Guide to Disney’s Magical (and Free!) Transportation System
Walt Disney World is huge—we’re talking the size of a small city! But don’t worry—Disney has an incredible, totally free transportation network to help you get from place to place without a rental car, taxi, or rideshare app (though those are options too). Whether you’re staying at a Disney Resort or just visiting for the day, here’s how to navigate the magic.
🚍 Buses: The Classic Disney Ride

Disney’s fleet of colorful buses can take you just about anywhere on property. They run:
- Between resorts and the theme parks
- From resorts to Disney Springs and water parks
- And between parks themselves
Buses typically run every 20 minutes (more frequently at busy times) starting about 45 minutes before park opening and ending about an hour after park closing. They’re air-conditioned and sometimes even themed!
🟡 Tip: Check the monitors at your resort’s bus stop—or your My Disney Experience app—for estimated arrival times.
🚠 Disney Skyliner: Fly Above the Magic

This gondola system is one of the most scenic ways to travel around Walt Disney World! The Skyliner connects:
- EPCOT
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Riviera Resort
You’ll glide high above the treetops and even spot some parks from the sky. It’s fast, relaxing, and a fan favorite!
🎈 Bonus: It feels like a ride itself!
🚤 Boats: Water Taxis, Ferries & More

Want a breezy break from the crowds? Hop on a Disney boat! There are several water routes, including:
- Between Magic Kingdom and nearby resorts (like the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness)
- Between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios (with stops at BoardWalk, Yacht & Beach Club, and Swan/Dolphin)
- From Disney Springs to Port Orleans Resorts, Saratoga Springs, and Old Key West

🚢 The Magic Kingdom ferry boat from the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) is an iconic ride on its own!
🚝 Monorail: The Original Disney Highway in the Sky

The monorail is a true Disney legend! It loops through the sky between:
- Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC)
- EPCOT and the TTC
- The TTC, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Magic Kingdom, and Contemporary

There’s something uniquely magical about gliding right through the middle of the Contemporary Resort lobby on a monorail!
🧡 Great for: Resort hopping, EPCOT-to-Magic Kingdom days, or just going for a spin!
🚗✨ Minnie Vans: Disney’s Most Stylish Ride

Need to get somewhere quickly and in style? Enter the Minnie Van—Disney’s very own rideshare service, operated through the Lyft app! These adorable red vans with white polka dots are not only cute, they’re super convenient, especially if you’re in a hurry or traveling with little ones.
How It Works:
- Open the Lyft app and choose a Minnie Van when you’re on Disney property
- You’ll see wait times and pricing before you book
- A Cast Member-trained driver picks you up in a spacious, comfortable van
- Minnie Vans can take you anywhere on Walt Disney World property, including resort-to-resort trips and theme parks
🎉 Bonus: They drop you off closer to park entrances than regular ride shares can—sometimes right up front!
🚗 What About Driving or other Ride Shares?

Yes, you can absolutely bring your car or take an Uber, Lyft, or taxi. Disney offers ample parking at all the parks (with fees), and guests at Disney Resort hotels get free theme park parking.
⚠️ Just remember, Disney transport drops you closer than the parking lots or where Uber/Lyft can drop you.
📱 Tech Tip: My Disney Experience App
The My Disney Experience app is your digital travel buddy. You can:
- See real-time transportation estimates
- Get directions from anywhere to anywhere on property
- Track where buses or boats are headed
✨ It’s like a GPS for the most magical place on earth.
🎖️ Military Note: Shades of Green

Guests staying at Shades of Green have access to their own shuttle buses and can also use all Disney transportation, including the monorail, Skyliner, and boats.
✨ Wrap-Up: Leave the Driving to Disney
Walt Disney World’s transportation system is one of the best perks of visiting the resort. It’s efficient, scenic, and totally free for everyone, so go ahead and skip the rental car stress. Whether you’re floating, flying, or cruising by bus, getting around Disney is just part of the magic!
